M is for Marissa Meyer

Marissa Meyer is the author of the Lunar Chronicles series, set in a future world where cyborgs discriminated against and a moon colony is threatening Earthens.

One of the coolest things about these books is that they are each based on a different fairy tale -
Cinder is based on Cinderella.
Scarlet is based on Little Red Riding Hood.
Cress is based on Rapunzel.

I enjoy looking for elements of the fairy tales in the plots. It's amazing to me how Marissa Meyer weaves these traditional stories into such a futuristic sci-fi world.

The conclusion of the series, Winter, will be release in February 2015 and is based on the story of Snow White. It will also be the only book in the series to take place on the moon.

This post is part of the A to Z Challenge.

    1. Me too! I also loved Scarlet and Cress, but they each have their own vibe. I absolutely can't wait for the final book, Winter!
      Thanks for stopping by =)

  2. I was a little sceptical about reading the books, but it seems they have good reviews, when the last book comes out I think I'll start reading them (because I can be a little impatient sometimes, heh) :)

    1. I totally understand that preference to wait for all the books to be out. I love reading an entire series in rapid succession! I'm curious, though, about what makes you skeptical of these books...
